International operators have launched an epic contest to challenge their most football-loving suscribers!

Last weekend featured the Madrid Derby and 20 broadcasters made the most of the media frenzy around the match to kick off the new LALIGA EPICS contest both on social media and TV, generating tonnes of expectation and boosting audiences around the match.

In this first instalment of the LALIGA EPICS contest titled “The Madrid Derby Xpert”, the broadcasters challenged their followers by asking them to create their own three-man team by picking players from both squads.

Many of the broadcasters adapted the creative pieces into their own languages, while maintaining the contest format and using a range of posts, stories and video-questions posed by the players of LALIGA EA Sports. The image shows some examples of the campaigns, including those by Canal Plus Afrique, ESPN in Brazil, Megogo in Ukraine, Dazn in Taiwan and SCTV in Vietnam.

Meanwhile, other broadcasters opted to customise the contests to make them more attractive to their local audiences. An example of this was NOVA SPORT in the Czech Republic, which asked its subscribers which player had played for both clubs. Likewise, TV4 in Sweden and Setanta in the Baltic States and CIS asked their followers to predict the result of the derby.

The promotion on television was widespread, with talents from DSPORTS in LATAM and the commentators from DigitAlb Albania and TV4 Sweden encouraging the audience to have a stab at winning the LALIGA prizes. Similarly, on Migu China the presenter urged fans to take part in a live chat during the half-time interval.

The “Madrid Derby Xpert” contest was a roaring success with over 16,000 entries, and this is just the first of 11 LALIGA EPICS contests.
